Cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. John Puskas performed the world’s first triple bypass surgery on a beating heart. Of Hungarian descent, Dr. Puskas’ father is a retired dentist, his brother is an orthopaedic surgeon, and his wife is a dentist. A marathon runner and avid sailor, Dr. Puskas enjoys playing the piano, tennis, and slalom skiing with his family.

He identified a new biomarker for Heart Failure and recently presented his findings about blood levels of resistin, a hormone produced by fat cells, that can independently predict an individual’s risk of heart failure.

Dr. Smith’s father and brother are both cardiologists. Dr. Smith loves heart-healthy activities, including swimming, tennis, biking and fishing.
