You've heard it before, but the statement is so true. Recycle! Whether it be your morning newspaper or your aluminum can at lunch, there are plenty of opportunities to recycle. Emory Healthcare is committed to doing their part to recycle. We have placed bins around our facilities for paper, bottles and aluminum can recycling. By recycling, we can do our part to keep landfills clear and make the world a cleaner place.

Ways Emory Healthcare Recycles:

• In 2007, Emory Healthcare recycled more than 800 tons of cardboard and paper.
• The Emory Clinic saved more than 3,000 trees in 2007 by sending shredded paper to a recycling company.
• In 2007, Emory Hospitals recycling tonnage increased by 64.79 tons.
• Confidential document shredding increased 10.5% in 2007.

Ways You Can Recycle:

Recycle your newspapers

• There are 63 million newspapers printed each day in the U.S. Of these, 44 million, or about 69%, of them will be thrown away. Recycling just the Sunday papers would save more than half a million trees every week.

Recycle your aluminum cans

• Did you know 20 recycled aluminum cans can be made with the energy it takes to manufacture one brand new one?

Recycle your office paper

• Recycling paper instead of making it from new material generates 74% less air pollution and uses 50% less water.
