Bariatric Surgery Support Group
Join the Bariatric Surgery Education and Support Group for monthly motivation, information, and camaraderie!
The Emory Bariatric Center's support group is designed for patients contemplating bariatric surgery and patients who have had bariatric surgery at Emory or elsewhere. Led by center dietitians, health-fitness instructors, and psychologists, group meetings offer a resource for patients to address their changing needs throughout life after surgery and include guest speakers discussing relevant topics and concerns.
| Meeting Schedule and Location |
Meetings are held the second Monday of each month on the third floor of The Emory Clinic A, 1365 Clifton Road, NE, from 5:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sessions will include such topics as "Meeting Protein Needs," "Recipe for Success," "Stress Management and Goal Setting," and "Relapse Prevention." Please note that the meeting time and location are subject to change.

To schedule an enrollment appointment with one of the center's financial counselors, please call 404-778-5673. At the appointment, a comprehensive contract with additional program details will be provided. The enrollment fee, which covers lifetime membership in the group, is $205 for Emory patients and $265 for non-Emory patients. Sessions may not be purchased individually.

In addition to the support group, our patients have access to the Exemplo Medical Patient Portal to further enhance their weight-loss and weight-management experience. A component of Exemplo Medical's Bariatric Database, the portal allows patients to use electronic journals designed by doctors and clinical staff to initiate and maintain healthy lifestyle changes. Patients can track their weight, food intake, exercise, moods, sleep quality, co-morbidities, and more, as well as communicate with the center's team via a secure messaging system.
