While breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer for women, cancers of the cervix, ovaries and uterus are the second, third and fourth most common types of cancer for women of all ages throughout the world. At Emory, our priority has always been preventing female cancers through education and research, and utilizing the knowledge to provide the latest treatment methods and innovations to those who turn to us for care. Gynecology oncologists at Emory treat tertiary care patients referred for complex procedures and life-threatening illnesses. Patients are referred from across the southeast region and beyond.

Services & Procedures
Our gynecology oncologists treat patients referred for complex procedures and life-threatening illnesses. Services at Emory University Hospital and Emory Crawford Long Hospital include all forms of minor and radical surgeries for gynecological cancers.
These services include the following:
- Cervical cancer — diagnosis and treatment
- Ovarian cancer — diagnosis and treatment — watch and learn about Ovarian Cancer
- Diseases of the vulvar — diagnosis and treatment
- Gynecological malignancies and pre-invasive lesions — all forms of surgery
Within the past few years, our gynecological oncologists have adopted a minimalist approach, using non-invasive and minimally invasive procedures as well as advanced surgical techniques. These include pelvic laparascopy for the treatment of gynecological cancers. Our division is also recognized nationally and internationally for its research. We are involved with clinical trials that provide our team with the latest innovations and state-of-the-art treatment protocols.

Faculty and Staff
The staff of the Emory Division of Gynecologic Oncology works in partnership with the Emory Winship Cancer Institute. We apply a team approach, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, a research nurse and a nurse practitioner, for our treatment and clinical protocols.
