Your First Visit

You may make an appointment at The Emory Orthopaedic & Spine Center yourself, or through a referral from your primary care physician or orthopaedist.

Your initial visit to the Emory Sports Medicine Center will include an evaluation based on current symptoms or conditions, and a thorough medical history.

To schedule an appointment at the Emory Sports Medicine Center, or if you need assistance selecting an Emory physician, call Emory HealthConnectionSM at 1-800-75-EMORY or 1-800-753-6679. In Atlanta, call (404) 778-7777. Help is available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Emory HealthConnectionSM provides you with valuable information about the Emory network of physicians, facilities and services, which includes more than 750 doctors, four hospitals, and eight healthcare clinics. HealthConnectionSM is a direct line to registered nurses who can answer almost any question you have regarding health information.

Or you can visit the Find a Physician section of our website.

Second Opinions

We are happy to provide second opinions regarding your medical problem. However, in order for us to give a valid opinion, you need to personally bring (not send) all of the following information from your previous doctor(s):

  • X-ray/MRI or CT films
  • MRI or CT scan written reports
  • Previous operative notes
  • Previous office notes
If you are scheduled for surgery and would like a surgical second opinion, we will see you within 48 hours.

Billing

The Emory Sports Medicine Center accepts most insurance plans. Please bring your insurance card with you to your appointments. Payment for services is due at the time services are rendered. As a courtesy, we will submit a claim for you to any third-party insurance carrier with whom Emory Healthcare has a contract. Please call 404-778-3350 in advance of your appointment so that we may determine if your insurance carrier has contracted with us. You will be responsible for any charges not covered by your carrier. If you prefer to file yourself, we will provide the paperwork necessary for reimbursement and request payment at the time of the appointment.

Managed Care

If you are covered by a managed care insurance plan, we request co-pays and deductibles at the time of the appointment. We accept any of the following payment methods:

  • Cash
  • Personal Check
  • All Major Credit Cards
Billing for Physical Therapy Services

The Emory Sports Medicine Center accepts most major insurance carriers for Physical Therapy Services except Medicaid and Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO and POS.
