The American Cancer Society (ACS) has a Man to Man program, which provides a forum for men and their families to meet and discuss issues related to prostate cancer. The ACS also has an online message board where patients can not only access a continual dialogue of questions and answers, but can also post their own questions to a team of oncology nurses and medical experts.
Printed materials include The Prostate Cancer Treatment Guidelines for Patients, which is developed by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and translated into lay language by the ACS. In addition, the ACS publishes several books that may help patients make treatment decisions. These include the American Cancer Society's Complete Guide to Prostate Cancer, QuickFACTS on Prostate Cancer, and the American Cancer Society Consumer Guide to Cancer Drugs. Free brochures published by the ACS are also available.
The online Prostate Cancer Resource Center provides answers to questions about the nature of prostate cancer, its causes and risk factors, prevention, signs and symptoms, detection methods, treatment options, and information about advances in research and treatment.
